Shaker Indian Griddle Cakes

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoon oil
1 each egg
1/2 cup flour
1 cup butter milk
1 cup plus 2 t cornmeal
1 single milk
Combine all ingredients, accept milk. Mix well. When mixture is smooth, add enough milk to make a thin batter. Heat greased griddle until hot. Use 1/4 cup batter for each griddle cake. Fry until griddle cakes are bubbly on top and light brown on the bottom. Flip and cook until done.
Yield: 8 servings
