Shaker Pound Cake

3 each sticks butter
3 cup sugar
5 each eggs, separated
3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
2 teaspoon vanilla

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks, 1 at a time. Combine flour and baking powder, and add alternately with milk, to batter. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites stiff, and fold into batter. Bake at 325 degrees, in a greased and floured, bundt or tube pan, for 90 minutes.

Yield: 16 servings
