Shaker Pumpkin Cake

3 cup sugar
2 each sticks butter
3 each eggs, beaten
1 can pumpkin, 16oz
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon all spice

Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten eggs, pumpkin, and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and all spice, and add to pumpkin mixture. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour batter into a 10 inch greased tube pan. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. Serve plain, or topped with whipped cream.
