Yellow Cake

2 1/2 cup flour
2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 each eggs
1 1/4 cup milk

Grease and lightly flour, 2, 9 inch baking pans, or 1 13-9 inch baking pan. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside. In large mixing bowl beat butter until creamy. Add sugar and vanilla, and beat until well combined. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating 1 minute after each addition. Add dry mixture and milk, alternately, to beaten mixture. Beat after each addition, just till combined. Pour batter into prepared pan or pans. Bake at 375 degrees, 30-35 minutes, or till wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cakes in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove cakes from pans, and cool thoroughly on racks. Frost with desired frosting.
