Bisquick French Apple Pie

1/2 cup bisquick
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoon butter
3 cup sliced cooking apples
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup bisquick
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 each eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together 1/2 c Bisquick, nuts, and brown sugar. Cut in butter with a fork until mixture is crumbley. Set aside for strusel topping. Grease 9 inch pie plate. Stir together apples, (firm, tart, Granny Smith apples are best), and spices. Turn into pie plate. Stir remaining ingredients with a fork until blended. Pour into pie plate over apple mixture. Sprinkle with strusel topping. Bake 40 to 45 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Yield: 8 servings
