Breaded Tomatoes

4 cup crushed canned tomatoes
1/2 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon durkey charcole seasoning
2 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoon flour
3 each slices white bread

Toast bread until brown, then cut into small squares. Set aside. Combine tomatoes, oil, onion, salt, pepper, and Charcole seasoning. (1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke can be substituted.) Cook over medium heat until mixture boils. While tomatoes are cooking, melt butter and add flour mixing thoroughly. Add flour mixture to tomato mixture. Cook until mixture thickens. Stir to keep from sticking. Add sugar, and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Mix in toasted bread cubes just before serving.

Yield: 6 servings
