CLASSIC 24 Hour Salad

3 each egg yolks
1 tablespoon butter/margarine
2 tablespoon sugar
1 single dash salt
2 tablespoon pineapple syrup
2 cup pinneapple bits
2 cup orange slices
2 cup royal ann cherries
4 cup small marshmallows
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoon sugar

Cook 1 T butter, 2 T sugar, dash salt, 2 T vinegar, and 2 T pinneapple syrup in double boiler, adding 3 egg yolks last. Mixture will thicken. When mixture becomes thick, place in refrigerator. Then whip 1 C heavy whipping cream with 2 T sugar and 1/4 t vanilla for flavor after it thickens. Set aside. Mix together Royal Ann cherries, pineapple bits, orange slices and marshmallows in large bowl. Fold in egg mixture, then whipped cream. Place in bowl, decorate with oranges, marischino cherries, etc. Refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.
