Shaker Baked Acorn Squash

1 each acorn squash
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup corn syrup

Scrub squash. Cut in half lengthwise, and scrape out seeds and stringy portion with a spoon. Brush cut surface of each half with half of the melted butter. Sprinkle each half with 1/8 teaspoon salt. Arrange, cut sides down, in a baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees, 30 minutes. Turn cut sides up, and brush well with butter mixed with corn syrup, or butter mixed with brown and white sugars. Continue baking until tender, about 30 minutes. Brush often, with butter mixture.
