Shaker Christmas Cake

3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cup flour
3 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 each egg whites, beaten stiff
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside for future use. Cream butter and sugar until vary light. Add flour mixture and milk alternately. Stir in vanilla. Fold in egg whites and nuts. Pour batter in 2 greased and lightly floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees, 30 minutes. Frost with Shaker Maple Syrup frosting.
